Indian acoustic (Hindustani classical) music crossing over to Jazz and western music

Dinesh Mishra, Bansuri (Indian Bamboo Flute) player from Mumbai, India and Praful, sax&flute player from Amsterdam, met for the first time at ?ngsbacka Festival, Sweden in July 2006. They were both invited separately to give concerts at the festival, but immediately there was an enormous connection and feeling of brotherhood between them. They soon discovered that they both were pupils of the same Indian Bansuri Guru and Pandit, Hariprasad Chaurasia. With great pleasure they jammed together during the week long festival and sat in on each others concerts. In November 2006 Dinesh happened to be back in Europe and they joined again for a performance at Open Sky House near Colgne in Germany. Guest musician Heiko Dijker joined on Tabla. The entire concert lasted almost 3 hours and was 100% improvised without prior rehearsals — a beautiful encounter, connected in the hearts. Some moments meditative to the point of Zen, at times bubbling with energy and fire. The concert was recorded and the best pieces and sections were chosen to be compiled for this album. credits
